It is also common to find retinal problems due to long standing medical conditions, such as steroids, anticoagulants, and psychiatric drugs can affect the vision. Due to age physical limitations increase and visual impairment represents an important safety issue to residents and nursing staff.

Dr. Espaillat specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology, state-of-the-art cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery, diabetes eye care, cosmetic eyelid and refractive lasik surgery. Dr. Espaillat has participated in the research and-co-authorship of many published medical reports. He is an active scientist and is a member of the advisory board of leading medical and pharmaceutical institutions in the United States and around the world.
